Our Founding Story
Cake Recipes From Scratch was born out of a simple conversation in Sarah’s Nashville kitchen. After noticing that many of our friends and family were intimidated by the idea of baking cakes without a store-bought mix, we realized there was a gap. People wanted the delicious, moist taste of real homemade cakes but lacked the confidence to measure out ingredients and balance leaveners. We decided to combine Sarah’s recipe development background and Daniel’s culinary photography and testing skills to create a site dedicated exclusively to baking cakes from scratch—making it easy, stress-free, and accessible for everyone.
About Sarah Mitchell (Founder & Recipe Developer)
Sarah Mitchell is the main baker and creator behind our recipes. Growing up in Tennessee, Sarah learned the basics of baking at the elbow of her grandmother, using handwritten recipe cards that dated back generations. She later attended culinary arts school, focusing on pastry arts, and worked in professional bakeries for over a decade. Sarah’s passion lies in baking chemistry—she tests every recipe at least three times to ensure the perfect crumb, rise, and moisture level before sharing it with our readers.
About Daniel Brooks (Co-Founder & Editor)
Daniel Brooks handles the food photography, styling, and editorial content for Cake Recipes From Scratch. With a background in commercial photography and a passion for home cooking, Daniel ensures that every recipe is visually documented so you know exactly what your cake should look like at each step. He also acts as the “lead tester,” verifying that the instructions are clear and easy to follow for bakers of all skill levels.
