Ukrainian Garlic Bread (Pampushky)

Ingredients
  

Dough
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
Garlic Topping
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley chopped
  • 1/4 cup butter melted
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Method
 

Prepare the Dough
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add flour, salt, and olive oil to the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1 hour.
Bake the Pampushky
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Punch down the risen dough and divide it into small balls.
  3. Place the dough balls on a baking sheet and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  4. Mix melted butter, minced garlic, parsley, and salt for the topping.
  5. Brush the garlic mixture over the dough balls.
  6. Bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown.
