Ingredients
  

Potatoes
  • 4 large Russet potatoes Choose potatoes that are similar in size for even cooking.
Toppings
  • to taste Salt For seasoning.
  • to taste Butter Optional, for serving.
  • to taste Sour cream Optional, for serving.
  • to taste Chives Optional, for garnish.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Wash and scrub the potatoes under cold water.
  3. Poke several holes in each potato with a fork to allow steam to escape.
  4. Rub the potatoes with olive oil and sprinkle with salt.
Baking
  1. Place the potatoes directly on the oven rack or on a baking sheet.
  2. Bake for 45-60 minutes, or until the skin is crispy and a fork easily pierces the flesh.
Serving
  1. Remove the potatoes from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes.
  2. Cut a slit in the top of each potato and fluff the insides with a fork.
  3. Add desired toppings and serve immediately.

Notes
