  • 4 medium apples washed and dried
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter cut into pieces
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Insert wooden sticks into the tops of the apples.
  2. In a saucepan, combine sugar, butter, corn syrup, and salt over medium heat.
  3. Stir until the mixture comes to a boil, then stop stirring and let it boil for about 5 minutes until it reaches a golden color.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
  5. Dip each apple into the caramel, allowing excess to drip off.
  6. Place the coated apples on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper to cool.
