Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 4 ounces dark or milk chocolate (for topping)

Instructions

  1. 1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. 2. In a saucepan, combine water and butter over medium heat until melted and boiling. Remove from heat and add flour all at once; mix until the dough pulls away from the sides.
  3. 3. Allow the dough to cool for five minutes. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition until smooth.
  4. 4. Using a piping bag, pipe small mounds onto prepared baking sheets about two inches apart.
  5. 5. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown; do not open the oven door while baking.
  6. 6. Whip cream with powdered sugar until soft peaks form. Once cooled, cut profiteroles in half or poke holes before filling with cream.
  7. 7. Melt chocolate in a double boiler and drizzle over filled profiteroles before serving.
