  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup dried cherries
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, beat softened butter with granulated and brown sugars until fluffy. Mix in vanilla extract and egg.
  4. Gradually combine dry ingredients into wet mixture. Fold in dried cherries and chocolate chips.
  5. Scoop rounded balls of dough onto prepared sheets about two inches apart. Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges set but centers remain soft.
  6. Cool on baking sheets for five minutes before transferring to wire racks.
