Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup rice flour (or cornstarch)
  • 2 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and gather all ingredients.
  2. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine whole milk and granulated sugar. Stir until the sugar fully dissolves, about 5 minutes.
  3. Gradually whisk in rice flour until the mixture thickens, approximately another 5 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract and butter until well combined.
  5. Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish and bake for 30-35 minutes until set and golden brown on top.
  6. Allow to cool at room temperature before refrigerating for at least 2 hours. To serve, invert onto a plate so the caramelized side is up.
