  • 1 ½ cups confectioners' sugar

  • 2 tbsp heavy cream
  • 1 cup confectioners' sugar (more if needed)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Sift almond flour and confectioners' sugar together in a bowl.
  3. In another bowl, whip egg whites until foamy; gradually add granulated sugar until stiff peaks form.
  4. Gently fold dry ingredients into egg whites until blended.
  5. Pipe heart shapes onto prepared baking sheets; tap gently to remove air bubbles.
  6. Bake for 15-18 minutes or until shells form a hard outer layer. Let cool completely.
  7. For buttercream, beat butter and heavy cream until fluffy; mix in vanilla and confectioners' sugar until desired consistency is reached.
  8. Assemble by spreading or piping buttercream on half of the macaron shells and sandwiching with the remaining shells.
